With over half of our capacity provided by independent contractors, Brown Trucking provides an excellent opportunity for owner operators who want to be home frequently and regularly, who are absolutely committed to the safe operation of their vehicle and have the desire to provide outstanding service to our customers. All of our owner operators pull Brown company trailers.
COMPENSATION
With Brown you will receive:
- 72% commission on Line Haul
- No insurance surcharge – ever
- 90% no-touch freight
- All the miles you can legally manage
- Detention pay
- 80% of loads are pre-loaded
- 5 to 1 trailer ratio
- Weekly settlements
- Consistent freight and low deadhead
- Fuel discounts at terminal locations or through the TCH network
- Home every weekend, out 3-5 nights per week or less

SETTLEMENTS
Ready to receive a settlement each week? James Brown Trucking makes sure you will get it. As long as the required paperwork is in to our office by 8:00 a.m. Eastern time on Monday, you will receive a settlement on Friday. Use the convenience of free direct deposit to get access to your money even faster.

DRIVER REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 25 years old
- Min. 3 years OTR experience with a van trailer
- No DUI or DWI convictions in the past 10 years
- No felony convictions
- Good driving record
- No major preventable accidents in the past 5 years
- Pass DOT physical, drug & alcohol screen
- $1,000 escrow @ $100/week for 10 weeks
TRACTOR REQUIREMENTS
- Tractor must be less than 8 years old and pass a complete DOT inspection at time of leasing
- Wheelbase 265 inches or shorter
- Fifth wheel height not to exceed 48 inches when hooked to an empty trailer, and must slide
- Weight not to exceed 19,500 lbs. with full fuel tanks and drivers unless otherwise approved – bring current scale ticket to orientation
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Proof of payment of Federal Highway Use Tax (FHUT) form 2290
- Federal ID number or Social Security Number
- Proof of Physical Damage Insurance
- Copy of Bill of Sale for tractor, and
- Copy of title to tractor
